Parkinson’s Disease had a devastating effects on the body of onetime physically fit athlete, Mohammed Ali. Last photos of Ali show nerve-racking effects of the disease that tormented him for 32 years! The world was in mourning after news broke lastSaturday about the death of the world’s greatest boxer ever lived.
British photographer Zenon Texeira was invited to Mohammed Ali’s home in Phoenix, Arizona, USA at three months before the former boxing great met his end. What he photographed was shocking, Parkinson’s Disease had turned Mohammed Ali to some sort of a zombie.
Parkinson's disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremor, muscular rigidity, and slow, imprecise movement, chiefly affecting middle-aged and elderly people. It is associated with degeneration of the basalganglia of the brain and a deficiency of the neurotransmitter dopamine.[sic]Ali was unable to speak and insteadcommunicated through winks and smiles and his body had badly deteriorated.
At 74 and battling Parkinson's Disease, Ali could still afford a smile and raised his formerly iron fists as he posed for the camera.
